2009 TOYOTA FORTUNER SUV REVIEW

The Toyota's new SUV Fortuner which was introduced recently in the Indian markets has become a grand success in Indian automobile industry. When we can get a brand new Toyota Fortuner at a price of Rs.1,842,000 why should we spend 80 lakhs to buy a Landcruiser or 25 lakhs to buy a Lexus? The Toyota Fortuner is a good competetor to the Ford Endeavour and Mitsubishi Pajero. Want to know more?

Design

The most notable feature of Toyota Fortuner is its size itself. The new Fortuner weighs about 2 tons. The large twin head lamp, long bonnet, the intercooler vent above the bonnet and the comparatively smaller grill gives the Fortuner an even larger look. Th Fortuner has extra large 265-65 R 17 Dunlop Grand Truck snow and mud tyres. The ground clearance of Toyota Fortuner is 221 mm. The glass window at the rear most end has a special design. The spare wheel is attached to the bottom of the SUV as in bus.

Interior

The seating arrangement in Fortuner is at a greater height comparing to other cars and SUVs. There are large three seats in 3 rows. The Fortuner has a very large interior space. Though the interior resembles that of Innova, it is more laxurious in Fortuner. The audio system has on-board computer screen. The dials have better visibility. The climate control unit as in Innova has been used in Fortuner.

The Fortuner comes with modern safety technologies like airbags and ABS. The middle and rear seats are comfortable.

Engine

The 2982cc 4-cylinder inline common rail turbo diesel engine can produce a maximum power of 169 bhp @ 3600 rpm and a maximum torque of 343 Nm @ 1400 rpm. The 0-100km time of Fortuner is 12.74 sec.

Driving

Due to the size and power of engine and the efficiency of gear ratio, frequent gear changing is not needed for ordinary uses of Fortuner. The engine sound is very low in road driving.

The journey in Fortuner is comfortable than that cars in bad roads. Handling is also good.

2009 YAMAHA FAZER 150CC REVIEW

When Yamaha motors, India marketed Fazer 125cc in 2004, it had the credit of being the first motor bike in India with "insect eye head lamp". But the 125cc Fazer wasn't a success in the Indian automobile Industry. Now after the great success of Yamaha FZ16 and its successors, Yamaha India has introduced into the Indian roads, all new Yamaha Fazer 150cc. Let's start the journey with our new Fazer.

Design & Styling

In the transition from naked street fighter FZ16 to touring bike Fazer 150cc, the design of the rear view mirror design has been modified. Yamaha motors claim that the new Fazer has become more trendy and safer as a result of this modification. To give the fuel tank a muscular look, plastic resin covering has been provided in new Fazer. The Fazer comes with LCD instrument panel. As a result of the modifications in the fairing, the weight of the bike has increased. The 153cc, 4-stroke air-cooled single cylinder SOHC engine can deliver a maximum power of 13.8 bhp @ 7500 rpm and a maximum torque of 14 Nm @ 6000 rpm. The new Fazer is designed in such a way as to ensure better cooling and air flow to the engine.The Fazer has return type 5-speed transmission. To ensure better grip and handling, wider 140/60-17 inch tyres are used at the back of Fazer. The 100/80-17 inch tyres which are used at the rear side of ordinary bikes is used at the front of Fazer. Both the tyres are tubeless.For proper braking, larger 267 mm disc brakes are used in the front tyres. 130 mm drum brake is used at the back.

Drive & Comfort
The new Fazer offers the same drivability as given by the FZ. The Fazer provides efficient performance as FZ. The Fazer is provided with kick start facility. When comparing with FZ16, the Fazer's riding position has been modified so that it is suitable for long journeys. Higher torque and suitable gear ratios expels the burden of frequent gear shift in city driving.

Bentley Continental GT Bullet by TopCar, Russia

Russian tuners TopCar have released a new package for the Bentley Continental GT and the GT Speed coupe. The kit includes a series of aerodynamic work, body panels, design touches, and wheels, but not a performance upgrade.

For TopCar, this is their follow-up to their work on the Porsche Panamera. Dubbed "Bullet," the upgraded models receive a new front-end, including a renewed bumper, a grille for the GT, and a new hood designed with air intakes. A front spoiler is also built in, as well as LED lights. New side skirts lead into the wheel wells, which integrate interestingly with the freshened rear bumper. The bumper has vents built in behind the wheels, and a diffuser at the bottom.

The price tag for the kit, with the alloy wheels, is €25,000. The front fenders seen in the photos of the white GT are still in development, and are not included. Those can be purchased for an additional €5,000. Getting the matte black paint job runs an additional €7,000.

BMW Artcars in the Middle east, Dubai

Sheldon Rodriguez is a Visual Interaction Design Specialist by profession, and a very passionate BMW fanatic from Dubai, United Arab Emirates. BMW Artcars was an inspiration, especially the one done by Andy Warhol, Over a period of time, there happened to be another BMW fanatic Travis Todd who took a bold step in doodling his hood, and this further influenced him to has the same art form on my BMW - but this time taking it to the next level. The artwork is a product of collaboration with another artists by the name Mark Ganzon.

Dividing the car into two, the holistic theme was to have the left drivers side make use of sharp angled strokes to depict the evil, while the right passenger side to make use of open rounded strokes to depict the good. All the art was done with three sharpies permanent marker, and was quite a task to have it covered on the surface of a car. There was no form of pre-planning involved in drawing and relied heavily on our design backgrounds. Since we had our full time jobs to focus on, the project was done after working hours; about 3 hours every evening - the heat and humidity during the summers was not any good to have a smooth completion.

After three days of intense sessions, the project was completed and the outcome was outstanding. The art was protected with a layer of matte lacquer to retain the original look of the car. Being a integral part of the BMW Club in the UAE, and this project being the first of its kind in the Middle East, he took this opportunity to thank the fellow members of the club and the E46Fanatics.com to be an inspiration.
